Group Meeting 5 – Audio Recording
Before the meeting started, I offered some pastries/scones for the group to enjoy! ;o)
Cameron started this meeting off by looking at last weeks action plan, and what position we are at in achieving this plan. Main points discussed:
- Cameron informed the group that the planned Google Drive option is probably not a viable option as there is several complications about using this. He is however keen to continue to try and work out, if not this option, then look for an alternative.
- I commented that with the Documentary pitches getting closer – scheduled for Wednesday 27th March – then it was imperative that all in the group were prepared to present. The group agreed after some discussion that all would try to have their pitch ready for the next meeting (25th March @ 12.30pm) and present that pitch to the group as a trial run for the actual pitch 2 days later. This would allow the group to comment (both positive & negative where applicable) to help support each group member though this process, as well as offering extra guidance and advice towards each individual pitch.
- I commented that I am using the Gantt Chart to help me plan my documentary out (especially to make sure that the timeline is achievable). Others agreed that they would look at this, if not a similar alternative.
Discussion ensued regarding what decision each group member had made regarding their final choice of documentary topic. I commented that I found my recent feedback/guidance discussion with Conor (an opportunity to pitch the 3 ideas I had prepared (very helpful. Ann and Naomi mentioned that they have still to meet with Conor to chat about their proposed ideas).
I have decided to go ahead with my initial choice – The “Outlander Effect” on Scottish Tourism – a documentrary describing how the recent upturn in film and TV companies using Scotland (to make their productions) is having a positive effect on the Scottish economy through a notable increase in the number of tourists coming to Scotland. I will develop the story arc over the next week to produce my pitch.
I feel there is a real story here to be told to the Radio Scotland audience, and I now feel more comfortable pitching this topic next week.
The rest of the group decied on their topics – Ann mentioned that she had another topic idea she wished to bring to the group – The Whisky Experience – and she was looking for feedback from the group mon this idea. There was a positive response from the group as it certainly fits the theme for the magazine show – What Makes Scotland Great? – and is e really intersting (local and national topic) relevant to the target audience. The others are:
- Cameron – Positivity in Disablility Sport in Scotland
- Naomi – Festival fringe (Comedy) – (to be discussed with Conor)
- Francesca – Introduction of free sanitary products in Scottish learning establishments.
- Ann – The Whisky Experience (to be discussed with Conor)
Group meeting was closed after the following action plan was discussed and agreed:-
- Trial run of documentray pitches at next meeting . cameron will use his PC to play Powerpoints.
- Update on documentary production status.
- WordPress addresses to be circulated on WhatsApp Group.
